Interest in 4K video fuels the growth of spending on home entertainment sales of Blu-ray discs is also still growing
U.S. consumers willing to spend money on home electronic entertainment. The related expenditure in the last quarter was 3.8% more than in the third quarter of 2015. In absolute terms, they reached 4,173 trillion dollars. These data are contained in the report prepared by the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG).
It is interesting that continues to grow the demand for such a long time already on the market products like movies and shows on Blu-ray. More specifically, sales of films rose over the year by 6%, all kinds of programs — 8%. For comparison: sales of content on the platform «video on demand» (VOD) for the year increased by 5%.
Rising costs fueled by interest in TVs 4K Ultra HD player Ultra HD Blu-ray discs and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. For the quarter, it sold 2 million TVs 4K Ultra HD, which is 104% higher than a year ago. In total, the estimated DEG, in the U.S. operated 9.9 million of these televisions. With regard to televisions the previous iteration, their implementation is almost complete: at least one HDTV is in 85% of households.
