Intel will separate the former McAfee and TPG sell a controlling stake of its shares

In March 2011, Intel bought McAfee, specializing in the development of antivirus software. Then Intel were convinced that for 7.68 billion dollars open wide the road to the market of computer security. However, the possession of assets McAfee not yielded the desired result. In June this year appeared the information that Intel may sell McAfee, changing the future of Intel Security. Today the leading manufacturer of processors, has confirmed the intention.

The company TPG and Intel jointly invest in a new company formed by Intel Security. The amount of investment is 4.2 billion dollars. At the same time, Intel will receive $ 3.1 billion, retaining 49% of the new company. Company TPG will own 51% stake in the new company, which will be called… McAfee.

Note that the current leadership of Intel Security will remain at the helm of the new company.
