Intel Skylake line-SP platform-Purley will be named Xeon and Xeon Gold Platinum

Intel has revealed some details about the CPUs Skylake-SP, which is part of the server platform Purley. The new processors belong to the family of Xeon, but got a new principle of naming.

Those CPU, which became known today, will be called Xeon Xeon Gold and Platinum. There is also information that the other line will be named Xeon Xeon Bronze and Silver.

At the moment we know of 34 processors, but there are only their names and frequency. The source States still stepping, catalogue number and other such specifications, but they’re hardly interesting themselves.

The source also has information about the characteristics of some processors. For example, Xeon Platinum 8180 will have 28 cores, 38,5 MB cache third level and TDP 205 watts. Presumably, the Gold line will get CPU number of cores from 14 to 22, and Platinum from 22 to 28 cores.
