Intel Compute Card computer the size of a credit card

Intel has introduced a new modular computer platform. It’s called the Intel Compute Card and is designed to accelerate the development of the Internet of things by increasing number of «smart connected devices». In its promotion of Intel relies on its partners.

The Intel Compute Card has dimensions of 95 x 55 x 5 mm. thus it includes all the elements of a full-fledged computer, including a single-chip system, operational and permanent memory, wireless and wired interfaces. It is expected that this will allow manufacturers to use Intel Compute Card in a wide variety of devices — from refrigerators and kiosks to security cameras, and IoT gateways. The designers of these devices will be sufficient to provide a standard slot for the Intel Compute Card, which can be set «card» suitable for the price performance. According to Intel, this allows you to simplify and accelerate the design, saving designers from developing their own computer units.

The appearance of the Intel Compute Card on the market is expected in the middle of this year. Technical details are not yet available, but we know that the cards will meet even the Intel Core of the seventh generation.

Among those interested in development, Intel calls Dell, HP, Lenovo and Fujitsu, as well as Seneca Data, InFocus, DTx, TabletKiosk and Pasuntech.
