IMAX will spend at least $ 50 million on the creation of 25 VR-theme

This spring, the company, IMAX has published a statement which said the signing of a partnership agreement with Starbreeze. Then it was announced that plans to create premium content for VR that will be worthy of the IMAX brand, for further screening in various cinemas and shopping malls.


Last week, the leadership, IMAX has announced the completion of a new funding round, which attracted $ 50 million. The money will be spent over the next three years to create not less than 25 small VR movies and attractions that are designed for various platforms, including IMAX VR. To the creation of premium content will be attracted Hollywood companies, and game publishers.



Among the partners-investors include Acer, which is a supplier of equipment for the VR rides IMAX and CAA, China Media Capital, Enlight Media, The Raine Group, Studio City and WPP.


The first VR IMAX theater opens in Los Angeles and Manchester in the near future. Over the next months the company plans to open a number of leisure centres in USA, Europe, Japan and China.
