Image sensor Sony IMX421LLJ refers to the third generation sensor type CMOS with global shutter

Sony has unveiled the image sensor IMX421LLJ (in the illustration he is not). Novelty refers to the third generation sensor type CMOS with global shutter.

Device optical format 2/3 inch (size active area equal to 11 mm in diameter) characterized by an effective resolution of 2.86 megapixels and a pixel size of 4.5 x 4.5 µm. Built-in ADC can operate in 8-, 10 — and 12-bit mode. The sensor requires three power supplies: 3.3 V for analog circuits, 1.2 V for digital and 1.8 V for interface blocks. The manufacturer notes low power consumption and high light sensitivity of the sensor.

The advantages IMX421LLJ related support full resolution (1936 x 1464 pixel), 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels), read skip every other row and column (968 x 732 pixel), read with pairwise merging rows and columns (binning 2×2 968 x 732 pixel). When reading at full resolution, the maximum speed is 409,2/if you use 8-bit representation of the data 371,8 K/C — with 10-bit performance and 231,2 f/s — at 12-bit representation. When reading, skipping the even-numbered rows and columns the speed reaches 780,5 K/s, and the binning — 784,4.

The sensor is equipped with SLVS interface (4 or 8 channels) and SLVS-EC (1, 2, 4 or 8 lines). To format the appearance of selected housing LGA 226 with contacts.
