IDC analysts again lowered the forecast of growth of the smartphone market this year — from 3.1% to 1.6%

Experts of the analytical company IDC issued a new forecast pertaining to the smartphone market this year. According to the analysts the growth will be only 1.6%. Recall, three months ago, the experts of IDC lowered the forecast from 5.7% to 3.1%.

Thus, the growth of the smartphone market stops. For comparison: in 2015, the market grew by 10.5%, in 2014 — by 27.8%. Analysts attributed the cessation of growth transition to market maturity in developed countries. In the period from 2015 to 2020 in the US, Canada, Japan and Western Europe projected mean annual reduction of the smartphone market by 0.2%. In developing countries in the same period is expected to average annual growth of 5.4%.
