HP for 1.05 billion dollars buys a division of Samsung that produces printers
HP and Samsung Electronics have signed an agreement providing for the purchase by the HP division of Samsung, which produces printers. The transaction is 1.05 billion dollars.
In HP believe that the acquisition will allow it to turn over the market of copiers, estimated at 55 billion dollars and remained unchanged for several decades. The manufacturer intends to displace complex machines with expensive maintenance of multifunctional devices.
The asset is Samsung MFP A3 size that can compete with the copiers in performance, being easier and more efficient to use. In HP expect to integrate with its own developments, such as print technology PageWide.
We add that the buyer gets more than 6,500 patents in the field of printing technology and printers, as well as approximately 1,300 of qualified developers.
The transaction is expected within the next 12 months, subject to obtaining all necessary permits and approvals.
