Google was fined 1 billion euros

The EU ended consideration of one of the three cases of violations by Google of antitrust law. According to the source, Google was fined 1 billion euros. The basis for the penalty called anti-competitive behavior and abuse of dominant position on the market. The decision shall be published in the coming weeks.

The specified amount of the fine is far from the maximum possible amount. The penalty for violation of the Antimonopoly law can reach 10% of the annual income of the offender. In the case of Google it is approximately 6.3 billion euros.

Most likely Google will appeal, consideration of which may take several years.

Two investigations that are European antitrust regulators against Google, has not yet been completed.
