Google selling a division of Terra Bella, dealing with satellite images
Confirming the preliminary information, the company Google, which is holding Google, announced the intention to sell the activity associated with satellite images. Relevant subdivision of Terra Bella will be sold to the U.S. company Planet Labs, founded by former NASA employees.
The financial side of the transaction were not disclosed. However, it is known that Planet Labs will acquire all the assets of Terra Bella, including SkySat satellite constellation.
After completion of the transaction, Google will conclude with Planet Labs, a multi-year agreement for the purchase of images of the Earth’s surface.
Recall that Google acquired the company Terra Bella, formerly known as Skybox Imaging in 2014 for $ 500 million.
