Goliath — the CNC machine moving through the treated surface

On the website KickStarter has been successfully raising funds for the production of CNC machine Goliath. Its key feature was the fact that Goliath CNC moves along the treated surface.

This overcomes some of the limitations for the machines are fixed in one place, and the machine itself is very compact. In the case of Goliath CNC user restricts the work area by software, and the robot monitors its location using high-precision sensors. According to the developers, the accuracy is 0.1 mm.

The machine is designed for milling wood and wood-fibrous materials based on it, sheet metal and plastic. The maximum depth of penetration of the working body is 35 mm. the design of the wheels is such that they provide a secure grip even in areas already processed. The machine supports all the popular formats of CAD data, and is controlled via Wi-Fi using a PC, tablet or smartphone.

To get the machine, you need to make at least $1850. Retail, developers expect to sell Goliath CNC at $2890. Planning to raise at least $90,000, and the authors of the project has already raised more than $529 000. The fundraiser will continue for another 41 days.
