General Motors will begin testing of unmanned versions of the Chevrolet Bolt EV on the roads of Michigan

General Motors (GM) reports that it is embarking on the testing of unmanned versions of the Chevrolet Bolt EV electric car on public roads in Michigan.

To be precise, test cars will be in Warren, where one of the GM plants, which produces models Bolt EV and Sonic. The company has already for some time is testing Autonomous cars at the factory, but now has permission to test them on normal roads.

For a start, the cars will move on roads adjacent to the plant, and later the route will become more complicated. How many will be released on the road of such vehicles is unclear, but GM is talking about building a «fleet» car Bolt EV, equipped with the appropriate equipment. At the same time the automaker has more than 40 unmanned vehicles in San Francisco and Scottsdale.
