France expects to launch a high-speed driverless trains by 2023

According to the source, referring to the message FranceInfo, the French state railway company SNCF is developing a driverless train. They should go to the TGV high-speed lines by 2023. Tests of the «train-the drones» is scheduled to begin in 2019.

The funds of the government it is proposed to equip the existing TGV trains, which will brake automatically if an obstacle is detected on the tracks. It is expected that the system will allow more efficient use of rolling stock, automatically equipping the train with a minimal amount of overhead maneuvers. According to the company, the automation will provide an opportunity to increase line capacity by 25% and reduce the minimum time between trains from the current 180 to 108 seconds.
