Foxconn is considered undesirable by the purchaser of semiconductor business of Toshiba

Foxconn of Taiwan is not among the priority candidates for purchase of the semiconductor business of Motorola. It is reported by the source, citing its own informants, directly involved in the future transaction. The reason Foxconn is considered undesirable by the buyer, called the company’s ties with mainland China.

The Japanese government is concerned about the possible transfer to China of high technology in the case of purchase of the semiconductor business of Toshiba by Foxconn.

At Toshiba are aware of this concern and will take it into account, said the informant, adding that Foxconn has plants in China.

Recently it became known that Foxconn and TSMC will work together to try to buy Toshiba Memory.

According to news reports, Toshiba estimates its semiconductor business, at least at 13.1 billion dollars. The first round of bidding will take place at the end of this month. Allegedly, invitations to bid were sent out to a dozen participants.
