Egis Technology will present at MWC 2017 fingerprint sensor that retains operability under protective glass with a thickness of 1 mm
Company Egis Technology, a manufacturer of fingerprint sensors used, in particular, in smartphones Samsung Galaxy C7 and Samsung Galaxy A5, announced the intention to introduce a next generation sensor technology. It is designed to fit under protective glass with a thickness up to 1 mm.
According to the manufacturer, the previous attempts of other companies to manufacture the sensor, keeping the performance under a protective glass of this thickness, were unsuccessful because of significantly decreased reliability. As a result, the thickness of the protective glass in the area of location of the sensor had to reduce, sacrificing his strength and mounting design. In developing Egis Technology this drawback is eliminated.
The sensor will be presented at the event MWC 2017, which opens on Monday in Barcelona.
