Discovered a breach in the security of 900 million smartphones with Android and Qualcomm SoC
Researchers at the American Check Point Software Technologies discovered a new gap in the system security of the Android operating system through which attackers can gain access to more than 900 million smartphones on the market.
Set of four vulnerabilities received the name Quadrooter, it is present only in smartphones, which use single-chip system Qualcomm. And it’s even on the new devices, which, according to their manufacturers, protected with highly reliable: Priv BlackBerry, 10 HTC, LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7, OnePlus 3, and many others.
Quadrooter using vulnerabilities, attackers can install malware on your smartphone or tablet, the user did not ask permission to conduct the installation. As a result, the hackers can gain full control over the device.
The press service of Google has confirmed the existence of this gap, adding that the patch should be released in September of this year. Until then, users of smartphones with Android and single-chip systems Qualcomm recommended to download apps only from Google Play, to avoid public Wi-Fi access points and not install applications that provide root access to the device.
