Delivery chipset MediaTek declined to 100 million units in the first quarter of 2017
In the first quarter of this year, MediaTek shipped to customers about 100 million chips. At first glance, this is quite a lot. But last year, in total, the company shipped more than 480 million units of its products.
In the second quarter supply is expected to increase to 110-120 million units, however experts are assured that at the end of the year will be recorded a serious drop in sales. The fact that the bulk of orders is placed in the first half of the year, so in the second half will be a further weakening of the company.
The main reason for the falling sales is that many Chinese customers make a choice in favour of the Qualcomm. We are talking about such manufacturers like Meizu, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, who took the part of orders from MediaTek, placing them in Qualcomm.
The latest system-on-chip Helio X30 still has not been selected by any major manufacturer.
