Construction began on a new factory to Toshiba, which will produce flash memory with a volume layout.
As planned, Toshiba started construction of the plant Fab 6, which will produce flash memory, and an R & d centre, which will focus on research and development in the field of flash memory. The site adjacent to the existing manufacturing complex of Toshiba in the city of Yokkaichi in the South-East of the country, was acquired a year ago.
Factory Fab 6 will produce flash memory with a volume layout of the BiCS FLASH. As in the case of factory Fab 5, the new production will be commissioned in two phases that will optimize investments in line with market trends. The completion of the first phase is scheduled for summer 2018. The research center should be ready early — by December of the current year.
