Experts at the American national Bureau to combat crimes in the sphere of insurance (The National Insurance Crime Bureau, NICB) note that this tool is based on the device Relay Attack, which is used by manufacturers to test the network security of their machines. This means that to deal with this method of theft is almost impossible. The source adds that the device is used mainly in Europe and the NICB managed to obtain and test one sample from an anonymous expert on security systems.

The device consists of two components. The attacker is located near of the car when the owner parks it and puts on the alarm. At this time one part is used to amplify the signal from the FOB to the car, and the second causes the car to think that he is the original keychain.

In the experiment, the NICB experts tested the device on 35 different cars, opening 19 of them, and then 18 you can make. In particular, easily hijacked 2017 Toyota Camry, 2016 Chevrolet Impala, 2015 Ford Edge and the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid.
