By the end of this year, the share of IPS screens on the notebook market will rise to 37%

We all have got used to IPS screens in smartphones and monitors. But in laptops, panels of this type are generally only in rather expensive vehicles.

Markit analysts at IHS claim that by the end of this year, the IPS screens will be installed in 37% of all sold notebooks. For comparison, in 2016, their share did not exceed 27%. However, next year growth will slow and by the end of 2018 IPS screens will be equipped with 42% of mobile PC. At the moment the cost of a «typical» notebook IPS panel is 30% higher than the TN panel. Naturally, with such a difference in the budget segment, manufacturers use.

Currently most of the IPS panels in laptops Lenovo uses. At year end, the company will acquire more than 12 million such displays.

Analysts also evaluated the distribution of panels created using the LTPS technology, which provides them with reduced power consumption. It turned out that the notebook market last year, the number of screens was only 3%, and this year will be 10%, and 13%.
