Automakers plan to 2020 to build in Europe 400 fast charging stations of electric vehicles
A year ago it became known that leading car manufacturers will Finance the construction of charging stations in Europe to stimulate demand for electric vehicles. According to new information, implementation of this plan has already begun. IONITY joint venture involving BMW AG, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Co and Volkswagen (including Audi and Porsche), expects to open the first 20 stations in Germany, Austria and Norway before the end of this year. Locations for stations selected in such a way that the distance between them is about 120 km.
In 2018, the number of stations will increase to 100, and by 2020 — up to 400. Each «column» corresponding to the adopted Europe’s standard Combined Charging System will be able to maintain a load capacity of 350 kW. Stations will be organized reception of digital payments.
According to the Director, IONITY, the emergence of the first pan-European network of fast charging stations will play an important role in the formation of the electric car market.
