Apple for the first time in 13 years significantly increased their expenditures on R & d

Apple differs in that it spends on R & d rather modest amount relative to their income. For example, in the fiscal year 2015 costs for research and development amounted to 8 billion dollars in revenue in 233,7 billion, which is 3.4 per cent.

In the 2016 fiscal year, they increased to 4.6%. Overall, for a very long time the cost of the Apple R & d did not exceed 5% of revenue. Recently, however, the situation has changed. If we turn to the last quarterly report, we can see that the costs in the last quarter amounted to nearly 6.5%.

The difference may be small, however, sources report that such expenditures on R & d from Apple was only during the development of the first iPhone. There is also information that Apple has increased the number of employees engaged in research and development.

Without having more information, we can only speak of what we know: Apple has increased the cost of YORK to over 5% of revenue, for the first time in more than a decade. It is possible to assume that it is required to work on entirely new projects, including a system-driving device augmented reality and other than written media.
