Analog Devices buys from Vescent Photonics technology non-mechanical laser scanner, which will make the lidar is more reliable and cheaper
Device for information about deleted objects using active optical systems, known as lidar, are used in systems for self-driving cars. Unfortunately, the existing lidar used, a mechanical scan of the beam, leading to increased size and cost structure, reduce its reliability.
Analog Devices announced the acquisition of technology by non-mechanical laser scanner developed by the company Vescent Photonics, established in 2002 and specializing in design and production of electro-optical devices, tunable lasers and electronic devices for precise control of lasers.
Allegedly, the acquisition of which will enable Analog Devices to make the car lidars safer, smaller and cheaper, having overcome many of the shortcomings of the modern models.
