Amazon offers the European Commission a deal to end an antitrust investigation

Amazon has proposed to modify contracts with publishers in exchange for the dismissal of the antitrust investigation conducted in respect of the European Commission. The company undertakes to save the changes for five years.

The investigation was launched in June 2015. It was intended to find out break contained in the provisions of the Antimonopoly law. According to the European anti-monopolists, some provisions of the agreements violate the antitrust law restrict competition and choice offered to consumers.

During the month the European Commission will make the responses of consumers to the Amazon offer, and then decide whether to accept it or not. If the proposal is accepted, the investigation will be completed and on Amazon will cease to hang over the threat of fines of up to 10% of the global turnover of the company.
