Advance payment, which Apple had to pay Nokia in the framework of the agreement, amounted to 1.7 billion euros

As you know, in late spring Nokia and Apple settle patent dispute, signing a multi-year licensing agreement. We remind that the Finnish company sued Apple in court for violations of four dozen patents.

At the time of conclusion of this agreement, the financial side was not disclosed, reported only that Nokia will receive an upfront payment and then will receive ongoing payments.

It turned out that this is advance payment is very impressive. As it became known, Apple has paid Nokia 1.7 billion euros. This amount has already affected the company’s financial statements.

What permanent license fees means the agreement between Apple and Nokia, is unclear. But just to say that patent infringement clearly took place, otherwise Apple would not have to pay such a substantial sum.
