According to the forecast TrendForce, smartphones with screens 18:9 will help to revive the market; this year they will have 10% of the supply in the future — 37%

The growth of the smartphone market is slowing. In search of new ways to stimulate demand, manufacturers have devoted considerable attention to the displays. According to analysts of WitsView division of TrendForce, the result was a reduction of framework and increasing the area of the screen relative to the area of the entire front panel. An important trend is the transition of screens with an aspect ratio of 16:9 screens with an aspect ratio of 18:9 (2:1). According to the forecast TrendForce, this year the share of smartphones with screens 18:9 and more in the total supply volume will reach 10%, and next year it will increase to 37%.

The market leader, Samsung, and other South Korean manufacturer, LG, first started to equip 18:9 flagship model. It is expected that the fall will follow their example Apple and Chinese manufacturers, usually repeating the moves leading companies.

The emergence of a large number of models with screens 18:9 would coincide with the seasonal rise in demand, which could give additional effect. So far, however, there is reasonable assurance that the panel manufacturers can provide the necessary supply volume.
