Specialists research firm IHS, Markit has prepared a forecast of market development of OLED panels for the period up to 2022. According to them, the production of OLED panels in the next five years will grow by more than four times. If this year’s expected release of panels with a total area of 11.9 million m2 in 2022, the total area will reach 50.1 million m2.
Clarify what analysts believe as panel RGB OLED and WOLED. In the first segment they predict a rise from 8.9 to 31.9 million m2 million m2, and the second with 3.0 million m2 to 18.2 million m2.
Market leaders, according to experts IHS, Markit, will remain Samsung Display and LG Display. The first company will dominate the segment of the RGB OLED panels for mobile devices, the second segment of WOLED panels for TVs. Total South Korean manufacturers in 2022 will have 71% of world capacity for the production of OLED panels. Now they share equal to 93%. The share of Chinese companies, including BOE, ChinaStar, Tianma, Visionox, EverDisplay and Royole five years will increase from 5% to 26%. Analysts specify that Chinese producers will focus on the RGB OLED panels for mobile devices, delivering them Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Meizu, Lenovo, ZTE and less known manufacturers of smartphones, while Samsung Display will focus on providing two largest customers — Samsung Electronics and Apple.
