Experts of the analytical company IDC has summed up the results of the last quarter of 2016 and the year as a whole in the smartphone market. As stated in the report, for the quarter it was shipped 428,5 million vehicles. This is 6.9% more than in the fourth quarter of 2015, when it was shipped 400,7 million smartphones. For the year overall deliveries has increased from 1.44 to 1.47 billion, i.e. by 2.3%.
The industry leader remains Samsung, the year those shipped 311,4 million devices, which corresponds to 21.2% of the market. Apple, in second place, in the year released was 215.4 million smartphones, bringing its share is equal to 14,56%. A year ago, shares of Samsung and Apple ratio was 22.3% and 16.1%, respectively. It should be noted that both of the company for the year has reduced deliveries: Samsung — 3%, Apple on 7%.
If we consider only the fourth quarter, Apple barely beat its competitor, shipped in three months to 78.3 million smartphones and taking 18.3% of the market. Samsung for the quarter released 77,5 million smartphones, which corresponds to 18.1% of the market.
The five largest suppliers of smartphones by the end of 2016 also includes Huawei (9,5%), Oppo (6.8%) and Vivo (4,8%).
