According to estimates IDC, the server market in the first quarter of 2017 fell 4.6%

Experts of the analytical company IDC has summed up the results of the first quarter of the current year in the server market. If you believe the analysts ‘ estimates, compared with the same period last year, the market decreased by 4.6%. In monetary terms, it amounted to 11.8 billion dollars.

According to experts IDC, the ongoing loss of market due to the anticipation of the processors Intel Skylake, which will appear in servers in the second half. The other factor adversely affecting sales of servers, called the rising prices of memory.

In quantitative terms, the supply of servers has increased in comparison with the first quarter of 2016 at 1.4% and made up 2.21 million units.

In the lower segment recorded a decline in sales of 3.4% to 9.5 billion dollars. At the same time, in the middle segment recorded an increase of 16.5%, to $ 1.3 billion. Finally, in the upper segment sales decreased by 29,0% to $ 1.0 billion.

The market leader for the quarter, IDC analysts called HPE, which share for the year decreased from 27.5% to 24.2%.

In second place is Dell. Its share increased from 18.2% to 20.1%. Cisco, IBM, and Lenovo is of 7.0%, 6.3% and 6.2% market share, respectively.
