According to estimates from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, iOS position is strongest in Japan, but in General the mobile OS market dominated by Android
Analysts Kantar Worldpanel ComTech has compiled statistics to indicate the prevalence of one or one mobile OS. According to analysts, the days when somehow affected by the presence on the market, BlackBerry OS, Symbian and Windows Mobile in the past. The market is divided between iOS and Android. Moreover, in different regions the share of these OS are different. Thus, the largest smartphone market, China, Android’s share at the beginning of the year amounted to 83.2%, iOS is 16.6% (taking into account only the smartphones sold in three months, and not all smartphones currently in use).
In Europe (limited to Analytics data, the five largest markets — the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain) the share of Android is equal to 74,3%, iOS — 22.7 per cent. In the US Android’s share of 56.4%, the share of iOS — 42%.
Interestingly, Japan was the only region where the share of iOS, at least slightly, but more share of Android — 49,5% vs 49.0% of.
