According to estimates from Digitimes Research, shipments of laptops in the last quarter decreased by 4.2% compared to last year
Experts Digitimes Research issued a report, from which it follows that the notebook market in the third quarter of 2017 was reduced in comparison with the same period in 2016 by 4.2%. In just three months from July to September were shipped 40,79 million mobile computers (excluding the model of «2-in-1″ that Digitimes Research, apparently, belongs to the tablets).
Reasons for the decrease in sales is called the weakening demand in the consumer segment and the reorganization of the company Asustek Computer, which is one of the leading providers of laptops. The analysts specify that in some segments fared well: in particular, the sale of chromebooks has exceeded expectations, and China’s increased demand for game models.
In the current quarter, expected traditional seasonal rise, backed by active promotion of chromebooks by Google and the efforts of Microsoft and other companies aimed at increasing sales in the corporate segment. Analysts predict that for the quarter will be sold 41,72 million laptops. This is 2.3% more than last quarter, 0.5% more than in the fourth quarter of last year.
